Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about the repatriation process? We’ve answered some of the most common concerns to help guide you every step of the way.

Generally, you will need a UK death certificate, embalming certificate, and a “free from infection” certificate. While consular involvement is minimal for Ireland, we work directly with funeral directors and health authorities to ensure all documentation is in order.

Repatriation to Ireland is typically quicker than other international destinations, often completed within 2 to 5 working days, depending on document readiness and transportation arrangements.

Yes, we regularly arrange repatriations to both regions, including cities and towns such as Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Belfast, and Derry, as well as rural areas.

Embalming is strongly recommended and often required by airlines and receiving funeral homes to ensure hygienic transport. We will arrange this service as part of the process.

We provide hermetically sealed coffins that meet all relevant UK transport regulations and airline policies. These are accepted by Irish funeral homes and authorities.

Absolutely. We arrange all necessary flights and, where required, coordinate with ground transport services for collection and delivery within Ireland.

Yes. A dedicated case manager will be your single point of contact, offering clear updates, coordinating all logistics, and ensuring the process is handled with care and compassion.

We will discuss your particular case, as different countries will have different regulations and processes. As a general guide we recommend:

  • Informing travel insurance company of the death (if you have insurance)
  • Contacting the UK embassy within the country you’re loved one passed away in

When a loved one dies outside of their country of residence, it can be a confusing and complicated situation, however rest assured we will be by your side throughout and liaise with all relevant parties to gather all the relevant documentation required to arrange flights back to the UK.

Once back in the UK we will arrange the transfer of your loved one from the airport to our care, and from there we can begin making funeral arrangement plans.
