Have questions about the repatriation process? We’ve answered some of the most common concerns to help guide you every step of the way.
Yes. The deceased must be transported in a hermetically sealed coffin that meets international air transport and public health standards. Embalming is generally required for international repatriation, and our team ensures that all procedures meet both UK and Grenadian regulations.
Upon arrival at Maurice Bishop International Airport in St. George’s, the remains must go through customs clearance and inspection by local health authorities. Harmony International coordinates this process in advance, ensuring all documentation is ready to avoid delays.
Yes. While our main responsibility is safe and dignified transportation, we also collaborate with trusted local funeral homes in Grenada to help families plan burial or memorial services according to their preferences and traditions.
Grenada’s population is largely Christian, with many Catholic and Anglican families. We work closely with relatives to honour their faith and customs, ensuring that funeral rites, blessings, or church ceremonies are observed appropriately.
The timeframe can vary depending on document approvals, coroner’s clearance, and flight schedules. In most cases, the process takes around 7–10 working days. Families receive regular updates throughout to ensure transparency and peace of mind.
We will discuss your particular case, as different countries will have different regulations and processes. As a general guide we recommend:
When a loved one dies outside of their country of residence, it can be a confusing and complicated situation, however rest assured we will be by your side throughout and liaise with all relevant parties to gather all the relevant documentation required to arrange flights back to the UK.
Once back in the UK we will arrange the transfer of your loved one from the airport to our care, and from there we can begin making funeral arrangement plans.
