Yes. The deceased must be transported in a hermetically sealed coffin that meets international aviation standards. Embalming is generally required for long-distance travel, and our team ensures compliance with both UK and DR Congo health and transport regulations.
Human remains entering DR Congo must go through customs clearance at the airport of arrival, typically N’Dolo International Airport in Kinshasa. Harmony International prepares all documentation in advance and coordinates with customs officials to ensure a smooth and timely process.
DR Congo has a diverse population, predominantly Christian, with Catholic and Protestant communities. We work closely with families to ensure funeral rites, blessings, and religious ceremonies are respected according to each family’s traditions.
Yes. In addition to safe transportation, we liaise with trusted local funeral directors in DR Congo to assist families with burial or memorial services, ensuring that all procedures align with local customs and faith traditions.
The process typically takes 7–12 working days, depending on consular approvals, coroner’s reports, and flight arrangements. Families are kept informed throughout each stage to provide reassurance and clarity.
We facilitate repatriation to major cities such as Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, Kisangani, Mbuji-Mayi, as well as surrounding towns and regions across the country.
We will discuss your particular case, as different countries will have different regulations and processes. As a general guide we recommend:
When a loved one dies outside of their country of residence, it can be a confusing and complicated situation, however rest assured we will be by your side throughout and liaise with all relevant parties to gather all the relevant documentation required to arrange flights back to the UK.
Once back in the UK we will arrange the transfer of your loved one from the airport to our care, and from there we can begin making funeral arrangement plans.
